GS CooperGeorge Sidney Cooper

George Sidney Cooper, better known as 'Sid', was born in the Winton district of Eccles in 1935. He grew up in Swinton and attended the Salford Art School. After college he worked for a Salford printing company as an illustrator. In 1965 he moved to Lancaster and worked for Courtauds before being made redundant in the late 70's. This gave him the chance to pursue his passion, painting transport and particularly buses and road transport.

Sid became well known through his regular attendance of steam rallies, toy fairs and model railway exhibitions. Sid was a prolific artist, and the collection here is just a small amount of his vast output that had been photographed. He worked right up until his untimely death in 1998.

You can read a fuller biography of Sid here.

I still have a large number of my father's original paintings available to buy which can be seen here.

I also have a limited number of signed and unsigned limited prints of the LNER 'Footballer' Class B17 which cab be seen here.
